    I figured it out.  It was a combination of two things.  The discovery in my post in this thread about zeroing was part of the issue (though I am discovering that zeroing all sliders is not quite the answer... I will figure out which ones consistently should be changed and start a new topic on it).  However, the biggest problem was a mistake I made while I was trying to get mods to work properly (yes... the noobie in me trying to figure out all the new cool stuff).   When trying to find out why the body and face mods I installed  weren't working, I used the Options Manager to activate "Use Replacer Body Mod" and "Use Replacer Face Mod".  I had forgotten I had done that until I started troubleshooting the problem by eliminating mods.  OOOPS!
