Quick question regarding the "lawyer friend", Sylas lives a pretty privileged life from his future appearances. Do family law attorneys usually make that level of bank to afford all of that?

Funny you ask, I hadn't even created Sylas at this point doing developing the story. As far as his earning, it's extremely rare, but not unheard of. Normally as far as lawyers go, they specialize in 1 aspect of law, be it criminal, family, claims, etc. In the case of Sylas, he's a bit of a "Super Lawyer" having earned degrees in both criminal, corporate and family law, which is why he's one of the most successful and saught after lawyers in the country...and commands the salary and status he does. Not bad for an Irish kid from The Hallows...lol.

And I'm guessing that criminal law expertise is how he finds himself involved in the events of Stiel Maiden following his guest appearance, right?

Precisely. Because of his obviously deep connections in the judicial system, he knows of CICLops. He DOESN'T however know that Lori is an Auditor...yet. It's all part of the next chapter following the Revelations arch.
