@SovietTiger mentioned he's got this "Clark Kent" good boy vibe from Max, but that can change radically over the course of the story. Where we go from here is anybody's guess, but it's obvious that things will not be the same from here on out.
 

Max is a man with a severely repressed personality, things can get ugly and this Clark Kent can become a Doomsday.

Indeed. Maybe not a complete monster, but definitely, continuing using Superman as reference, as the head of the regime in Injustice: Gods among us.

I have the feeling Max would be patient and caring to Dani, but I don't really know. That's only on the author's head.

Oh, don’t think he can willingly hurt Dani, but he c an unwillingly. Maybe he’s a fast learner or maybe he will try to repress himself even harder.

Haven't thought about that, but it is definitely an interesting side to explore. Like Davis Bloome on Smallville. The problem with that character is that the writers RUINED him by making him evil all along. I don't want to go down that hill and fundamentally change what's already been established, at least not as radically.

You both make fantastic points there. Max's relationship with Dani changed the moment she told him she didn't want to be protected. This comic proved that as he finally went "beast mode" during sex, or as "beast mode" as vanilla guys can get. And even after Dani stopped him, he still showed great concern for her. What happens to him after this encounter is everybody's guess at this point, so take what I'm about to say with a grain of salt.

Max will obviously feel a tremendous amount of guilt for "hurting" Dani. He thinks he went overboard with her, so he's understandably shaken because of this. I don't think, at least in the upcoming issues 4 and 5, that we'll see him deviate that much from what's established. He just found out that Dani is not a cute kitten, but a fierce tigress (see what I did there?) and it's obviously going to be an adaptative process.

As for Dani, at this point, she feels shame. She also feels guilt for what occurred to her mother and realizing that she might be a bigger freak than what Aura could have been. The masked man played dirty this time, and Dani's not having that shit no mo'.

Well, part of "maturing" is understanding the fact that not everything is our fault or by cause of us. Heck, most of the time just random shit happens and it has nothing to do with us. Of course, many things happen because of us, but not ALL. I believe Max needs to grow up a little and learn to listen to Dani, if they're interested to stay together at least for a while.

She needs to live the process. Poor kid needs to feel the pain and learn to tame it. If not, she'll end up ignoring it and creating a psicological juggernaut she won't be able to defeat, because it'll take her to very dark places.

Absolutely. I think, through it all, Max is allowed to feel how he feels, but I mean... He is mature enough to listen to other people. It will be a bit of a healing process with him, but I'm sure out of the two, he is the most grounded. He dealt with a harlot for six years, he's proven his patience lol!

As for Dani, yes. Even if she wasn't physically hurt, she did have a lot thrown at her at a very young age and needs to learn to open up more to people. She never told anyone about her past, except for Max. She risked getting vulnerable with him, and now she has an inner battle to fight. However, thinking of roadblocks to their progress is a bit difficult for me. I have ideas here and there, but I'm not entirely sure how to establish them yet.

He can be grounded because of that, yes. He also can be alienated and gaslighted because of that.

Dani’s masked man could be a big roadblock for her, if he gets into her head, her insecurity can come back with a punch, specially if she compares herself tongue hardcore professionals she likes to watch. I think that this will happen? Nah, I think she’s strong enough.
