That sucks man. I know the feeling of losing your PC all too well. I'm still saving up for a new one.

I know money sounds like it's tight for you but maybe see if you can find a cheap one to hold you over.

Unfortunately a replacement laptop won't cut it for me - mainly down to eyesight issues (I need a bit of distance from the screen, even with the right glasses )

And call me old fashioned, but I see this online trend of 'fundraising' as just a re-marketed form of begging - something I won't be doing....

Do not fear though!  I will get something sorted, somehow...  just a question of time.....

I just hope I've backed up what I needed to...

Its not realy begging if someone else offers to help you out, is it.....

I also will be willing to get you back running on something decent if you let me.

Old age (the computer and me )  It's been showing signs of giving up for a while..  I did see this coming, just didn't expect 'sudden total death' 

I won't know really what I've lost until I can reinstall the game and check my backup.  Probably won't remember what I did or didn't have anyway (tooo much content )  

I did have a bunch of WIP stuff going on I hadn't had the chance to backup..  but...

...I'm hoping that as and when I get a new system I'll be able to remove and scour the old drive for files - infact the game stuff is on a second separate HD from the OS, everything on that might well be salvageable.  Infact that entire drive may well still be totally useable.

Just have to wait and see...

PS.  Is this game available on 3.5 inch floppy discs? - I might be able to afford one of those computers

I found a shop here in Duisburg Germany ,where I am at home, where you can have your own PC built ,exactly how you want it to be ,I`ll try that out...look if you have a shop  like this

nearby..put on a long coat and hide your ears ..maybe you`ll get a discount then ..I did it and he said:" long life"

In the UK we have an online store that will build a system to your specs (PC Specialist).  This was where I got my last full build from and will use them again when I am looking to buy

Arf that kind of shit always happen at the worse moment... Have you test your(s) drive(s) somewhere else if they are not dead you can keep or even better backup the data somewhere safer, until you get your new altair.

Can't really do anything with them - or any recoverable data - until I can get some sort of replacement PC.  Thing is they're not going anywhere and whatever's happened has already happened - I'll just have to hang on and see. 

I have backed things up on an external drive fairly regularly so I don't think I'll have lost too much

Because, what I have IS YOURS after all.

I use to have all game and its stuff (including back up copy of game installation and K17 updates) all in an external hard drive and play in portable version.

I have changed laptop 3 times since I begun playing TK17 (and previous original game), yet have never lost my models and saved file.

Huge thanks for your offer     -  I am getting things sorted.  I think my sister is going to be able to help me with a long-term loan ( indefinite would be nice  ) with at least some of what I need
