Static and morphed

A few month ago I made Latona shaped TRS body in blender for convenience and it has BB and Slim version as its shape keys. It was made to make cloth conversion easier (gives me more options, to be exact), but at that chance I wanted to test this body morphs also in actual game play. It was successful and additionally I took their screen caps and compared it to original version. Here the outcome.

I don't know which version looks better in your eyes though, one thing that is certain is, morphs don't have its normal data. That said vertices behave as if they are still in the same positions after they shifted their actual positions, and that is to say they reflect light in wrong angle. This result makes me think about how should I take advantage of morph in this project.

Hi, for the Latona BB I don't see major differences, the only things I see are the shadows, the shoulders (the BB + Morph seems to be a very little slimer) and the tits (not the entire breasts, just the tits) which are more darker on the BB Morph, but I think it could be same on the BB classic with some tuning of the YUV of the tits textures. For Latona Slim there is a clear difference: the Morph one has a more detailed torso and the breasts are/seems bigger with also more darker tits. So to sum-up, for me Latona Slim Morph is clearly better than Latona Slim, but for the BB one I'm not I could differenciate the 2 without infos.

Indeed.

Interesting thing about this comparison is, they share 99% the same shape nevertheless they look differently. It looks like a trick art, or like a texture of which its shades are pre-baked. As you pointed out it may looks good sometimes, especially in image that is static, but may also look somehow strange when it's in action because there will be always "gap" between your expectation and the rendered result.

Hi, yes the noticeable thing is is the impact on the lightning and the associate shadow, on the slim it's logical because the shape and size of boobs change, so does the shadows. But on the tanked one the shadows change on boobs but to me the shape/size is globally the same, it's like an invisible cast shadow in the morph one but not in the classic one. How does the morph are integrated in game? It's in the body add-ons or is it something like a bump map or normal which is interpreted by Hook5?

The size and the shape are same in both BB version and Slim version that's why this comparison draw me some interests 🙂 you can sse the left boob of the Slim keeping exact same shape between static and morphed version. These morphs are part of the body mod, like Xbody.

Ok, I see the interest with your video, the main drawback I see with bodies morphes is that that base game doesn't know they exist, so you can have clipping problems with clothes, also I see some of my poses broken when I use a model with the xbody activated, but not all  🤪 . Also it explain why you some change in shadow.
